Gameday! Sky vs. Mystics…

UIC Pavillion
Chicago, IL
7:30pm CST

Available on: Live Access

Tonight is a big game for the Sky if they want to keep their playoff hopes alive. This season, the Sky are 2-1 against the Mystics, beating them at home on June 27th behind 23pts from Candice Dupree and a double-double from Sylvia Fowles. While Big Syl is still doubtful for the game tonight, the recent acquisition of 6’6″ Katie Mattera should help the Sky inside (game preview from wnba.com).

Some tidbits…

** Article: Fowles’ absence hurts Sky’s playoff hopes (from Chicago Sun-Times)

Talk about making its first playoffs the hard way, that’s what’s shaping up for the four-year-old Sky if it has to play its remaining four games without 6-6 center Sylvia Fowles.

** Article: Getting to know Tamera Young (from ChicagoSky.net)

“Adjusting to Chicago has been great,” Young said. “The team is really cool, laid back and goofy at times. I think I fit in well with the team, personality wise and on the court. The personalities here are not so serious. We’re serious when we need to be, but we have fun. Having fun and loving what you’re doing makes you better.”

** Article: Jia Perkins – The Gold Standard (from Windy City Media Group)

“I like it, though it’s still a little cold during the summer. Remember, I’m from Texas, so I’m not used to any cold [ temperatures ] during the summer,” she said. “I like the city; there’s a lot to do here, especially culturally. However, I’m actually a homebody, so I haven’t really done much, but I always enjoy going to the Taste [ of Chicago ] , the Jazz Festival and the Gospel Festival.

** Height of Fashion postponed! Email from the Sky…

Sky Fans, The Height of Fashion show that was originally set to take place on September 8 has been postponed until next spring, 2010.

With Oprah’s 24th Season Kickoff Party set to take place on Michigan Avenue during the same time, we thought it would be incredibly difficult to get to the Westin due to traffic and the crowds that Oprah’s show will draw.

Due to the playoffs, there is really no other date this season that will work.  But no worries, The Height of Fashion Show will be rescheduled for the spring.  We will update you when a new date is selected.

We apologize to those of you who have already purchased tickets to this event, we will refund your purchase in it’s entirety.

Go SKY!
