Wisdom-Hylton traded to the Sky

It’s about time there is some Sky news that makes me smile…

* A R T I C L E * Sky acquires Naperville’s Wisdom-Hylton (Daily Herald)

* A R T I C L E * Sky bringing Wisdom-Hylton home (Chicago Tribune)

“We’re very excited to bring Lindsay to the team,” Sky coach and general manager Pokey Chatman said in a statement. “She is an experienced player that’s been on a champion-caliber team. She’ll bring us a skill set we need at her position and add flexibility and depth to the frontline. We’re also happy to be able to bring her back home to Chicago.”

The 13th overall pick in the 2009 draft, Wisdom-Hylton averaged 3.5 points and 2.5 rebounds in 61 games with the Sparks. The former Neuqua Valley High School star twice was named to the All-Big Ten first team while at Purdue.

Lindsay Wisdom-Hylton fills a need at power forward that was left vacant when Mistie Bass  and others (…Christi Thomas, where are you?!) decided not to return to the WNBA/Sky this season. In exchange for Wisdom-Hylton, the Sparks received the Sky’s 2012 2nd round draft pick.

How did Wisdom-Hylton react to being traded? Via twitter, Lindsay (@Wisdom_14) said…

I remember watching Wisdom-Hylton play a few games when she was at Purdue. She’s quick, athletic, mobile and is very good at passing out of the post. Great pick-up by the Sky.

Wisdom-Hylton is from Naperville and attended Neuqua Valley High School.  I love having local players on the team. An added bonus, if you will. Also, I believe Lindsay was also an intern with the Sky the year before she graduated from Purdue. She was part of the “Fan Patrol” crew. Good to have her back in town.

I related news, Linda Frohlich was waived today. The Sky’s roster currently stands at 12 therefore one more cut needs to be made before the season opener on Saturday.

Welcome aboard, LWH!
