She’s just a rookie, but Chicago Sky point guard Courtney Vandersloot is already making her mark in the Second City. Ten games into the season, the Gonzaga product is tops on the team in assists per game (5.2) and third in points (8.7) and minutes (28.5). She has started all but one game, and an injury to backup point guard Dominique Canty means she will be counted on even more over the next few weeks.

Vandersloot is comfortable handling more than her share of the load but admits she hasn’t adjusted to the WNBA schedule.

The article goes on to talk more about Sloot’s transition to the pros and how she spends her time in and around the city. There’s even some talk about Twitter and the awesome “Salt & Pepper” backcourt 🙂 Great read!

  2. My fave Sky player going in! Good read.

  3. Good to see a West Coast baller gettin the press. ‘Sloot has been the real deal since a freshman at Gonzaga. You can see her growing as a W pg in every game!

    • I didn’t watch her at Gonzaga except for her last college game, but, yeah, I can see the potential. Great draft pick by Pokey!
